Have you ever been frustrated by someone who seems to get you one minute, then acts like they've never met you the next? That frustrating pattern of "riding the wave" with inconsistent people mirrors our own relationship with God more than we'd like to admit.

This episode explores the delicate dance between spiritual consciousness and unconsciousness. We often acknowledge God as holy, sovereign, all-knowing, and limitless—but conveniently forget these attributes when they conflict with our desires. We essentially ask God to "turn His head" or suspend His holiness temporarily, forgetting that He cannot stop being who He is, even for us.

Through personal stories, including my journey with sleep apnea and prophetic dreams, I share how I caught myself putting human limitations on a limitless God. When I worried that using a CPAP machine might interrupt my spiritual dreams, the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that God wasn't confined to speaking through just one channel. What began as dream-based communication evolved into recognizing His voice in crowds, meetings, and everyday moments—revealing that the dreams were simply my spiritual training wheels.

The message becomes clear: staying spiritually alert matters. When we understand our place in God's sovereign plan, we realize we can't "mess up" His purposes. Each of us moving in individual alignment with God creates a divine orchestration where He manages how our purposes intersect with others. As Romans 8:9 and 1 Corinthians 3:16 remind us, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, making conscious connection with God always possible.

God's Unchanging Nature

Speaker 1

Welcome back to Vision in the Valley. So I tease a lot about folks that go in and out of consciousness about things. One minute they get you and the next they don't. One minute you're on the same page and the next minute they act like they've never even read a book, much less the book you're reading. It's a frustrating practice of riding that wave with them. So now when I realize that about someone, I know where to leave them. It doesn't mean that they're horrible people. It just means I understand that time is precious and I can't afford to be attached to folks who are in and out of consciousness Conscious one moment and a coma the next. My pivots come fast and the one I'm supposed to lean on, the folks I'm supposed to refer to for wise counsel, cannot be in a coma when I need them. With that said, I had to think about how God sees us. I wonder if he's saying oh, here we go again. She's in her unconscious state of mind.

Now we know God to be holy, sovereign, all knowing and limitless. He has all autonomy and he does all things well. He's always those things, not just on Sundays, not just when your mother or your child is sick, and not just when you need a job or a new place to live. Why is it, then, that we try to rob him from any one of those things him being holy, or sovereign, or all-knowing or limitless? I find that we are willing to ignore that he's always holy. When we want something that conflicts with him being holy, even if it's the slightest of things, think about it. We ask him to ignore being holy for a moment, like we're saying turn your head, god, or act like you don't see me. Sometimes we are punished for the act and sometimes it seems like we got away with it Today. I'm not talking about the punishment or about the grace he extends us when we misbehave Today. I'm just talking about the fact that we forget he cannot not be holy, that, as much as he loves you, he cannot give up being God, even for you.

Living in Alignment with God

Speaker 1

I bring this up for a few reasons, one of which is my proclamation to live in alignment with God's will for my life. Through this walk, I've been able to see breakthroughs, even in the relationships, because I've also put them on the altar. I don't have to worry about managing portions of my life and then allow God to manage the other parts, but instead just give them everything, give it all to them. One of the questions that I've been presented with, actually quite often, was what if my alignment doesn't match the other person's alignment? And I tried to explain this that when we are each in alignment with God, god orchestrates and directs the rest. We don't have to worry about how one alignment fits into another. That's the master's job.

Speaker 1

If you think about it, when we say he's all knowing and sovereign, we're saying that he reigns over all and he has everyone in mind all at the same time. He's not forgotten what he's told you or anyone else. The instructions you received from him can't complicate things, and you're not meant to manage what someone else has been told or assigned to do. Who is this message for? You can't mess up anything. You can't mess it up because you're not in charge of anything. The only thing you're in charge of is you and, to be totally honest, you're not even in charge of you. You were created for his purpose.

CPAP Machine and Spiritual Dreams

Speaker 1

This is an example of what I'm talking about when I say going in and out of consciousness regarding who God is. We all do it from time to time, but some of us live in that unconscious state calling it woke right, I'm putting my quotes up, calling it woke or conscious. I'll give you one of my examples of going in and out of consciousness. I've discussed with you the need for me to have a CPAP machine last season, so I had a sleep study performed and it revealed that I stopped breathing 15 times or more per hour during my sleep. It spoke to my overall health, but especially to why I was always so tired and never felt quite fully rested. I knew that I was also blessed. In my sleeping hours, I received dreams and revelations about my future, including this podcast, during my dreams. So, as much as I wanted to sleep and rest and I wanted to be healthier, I crazy, inspirational, amazing dreams would cease. I was going in and out of consciousness about how God decided to love on me. Isn't that crazy.

Speaker 1

It was as if I was saying that the dreams were just a fluke and only came by way of medical deficiency. Really, that's what I'm saying to myself now, because that's how I felt that one sleep came to me. I'd miss out on my love language. Shame on me. He is so God that he was trying to tell me like boo, get your sleep, get your rest, and I'll talk to you. Later, the Holy Spirit also reminded me that I was again putting limits on a limitless God, that I was again putting limits on a limitless God. He spoke to me in my dreams exclusively at one point, because that's the only time I was able to hear him. It was the only time I was quiet enough and still enough to receive him. But in my graduations I can hear and feel myself being led by the Holy Spirit in the middle of a crowd, in the midst of a meeting, and even above the clicking of my keyboard. As I was writing this, it was as if the dreams were just the beginning, just to allow me to get familiar with his voice.

Staying Alert and Conscious

Speaker 1

The CPAP machine was a gift of rest. That was my discernment as I came back into consciousness. You see, we all do it. I still have my dreams. I no longer wake up with that pain in my chest or that feeling of suffocation. He didn't need me to worry about the interruption of our conversations. He's all knowing that diagnosis and the presence of that CPAP equipment. It couldn't change how he speaks to me. I was wrapping a spiritual connection in fleshly tapestry, if you will. I was limited by what my mind could understand. I was in and out of consciousness, on understanding what's on me and completely forgetting about what's in me. The Holy Spirit dwells in us. Romans 8 and 9 and 1 Corinthians 3, 16 reminds us of that. So my message to you is to wake up, my dear friends, and let us stay alert and conscious. I can't wait to talk with you soon.
